"Aromatherapy Level I," is an introductory course in the Fundamentals of Aromatherapy. The course will
provide the fundamentals of the utilization and application of essential oils in a safe and effective way.
Aromatherapy is a growing complementary therapy, important in many facets of the Wellness Industry. This course
provides an excellent place to start your studies or simply familiarize yourself with this exciting field.
After completing this Fundamentals Course, you may wish to continue to Professional Aromatherapy Studies with our
Level 2 course, leading to Certification, and preparing you to integrate Aromatherapy into your existing profession,
create an Aromatherapy consultation practice, or integrate aromatherapy into your home healthcare.
This course may be taken by anyone interested in Aromatherapy, but is especially relevent to those practicing in the
allied health professions including but not limited to Massage Therapists, Athletic Trainers, Chiropractic Assistants,
Occupational Therapists/Assistants, and Physical Therapists/Assistants interested in learning the Fundamentals of
Aromatherapy.

Course Objectives:
- Develop a working knowledge of the history of essential oils
- Discuss 20 essential oils, their characteristics,
precautions for use, and common therapeutic uses
- Apply the fundamentals of safety in handling and use of essential oils
- Understand the production techniques and quality concerns in essential oils
- Understand how essential oils interact on physical and emotional levels
- Evaluate for and apply the use of an essential oil for a specific individual
- Create a blend of essential oils
- Discuss the characteristics and uses of 12 carrier oils
- Apply the basic methods of essential oil applications
- Develop an overview of the body systems, with detailed review of the olfactory system and skin
- Develop an overview of the chemical characteristics of essential oils and how that affects their uses, benefits, and cautions
Course Layout:
This course is presented in short lessons, with additional materials, and essential oil profiles. The student is encouraged to
do extra reading, and a list of resources is provided. The student is also encouraged to experience essential oils. Please
carefully read all safety information and the specific cautions for each individual essential oil and carrier oil before you
use them in any way. Instructions are provided.
We use the mastery system of education. At the end of each lessons are interactive quiz questions to ensure you understand
key points from each lesson. These quizzes are provided to give you confidence that you have absorbed the information. You
must answer all questions correctly before our system will let you proceed to the next lesson. Answer all multiple choice
questions and then click on the submit button. The system instantaneously evaluates your answers. If you get all the answers
correct, the system lets you proceed to the next lesson. If you answer any of the questions wrong, the system will bring those
questions up again to let you re-answer.
