]]> 2026 Chiropractic License Renewal Deadlines by State (Complete Guide)

Missing your chiropractic license renewal deadline can result in late fees, delinquent status, or temporary inability to practice.

This guide explains 2026 renewal structures, CE hour requirements, online limits, reporting systems, and how to complete renewal requirements efficiently.

Why Renewal Deadlines Matter

Failing to renew on time can lead to:
• Late penalties
• License lapse
• Practice interruption
• Additional compliance scrutiny

Common Renewal Structures

States will typically follow one of three renewal structures:

  • Renewal based on a common date for everyone
  • Renewal based on the date the license was issued
  • Renewal based on the birth date of the licensee

Renewal cadence varies by state and may include:

  • Annual renewal
  • Biennial renewal (most common)—Odd/Even year renewals
  • Triennial renewal

Most states require between 12–40 CE hours per cycle, including mandatory categories such as:

  • Ethics
  • Laws and Jurisprudence
  • Risk management
  • Boundary training
  • Human Trafficking
  • Documentation

States will also vary on whether they allow all of the hours to be done online using synchronous or asynchronous options or if they need to be done in-person, which is becoming more and more rare.

Sample 2026 Renewal Deadlines

Texas – Annual – 16 hours by the first day of your birth month
California – Annual – 24 hours by the end of birth month
Florida – Biennial – 40 hours by 3/31
Georgia – Biennial – 20 hours by 12/31
New York – Triennial – 36 hours every 3 years based on the date of initial licensure
