57 yo female patient presented with recent left foot pain and ankle pain and swelling

The patient states that her foot pain began 4 months ago with an injury during dancing where she led with her heel into the dance floor repeatedly. She felt stiffness and pain in her medial ankle and plantar fascia which had been worsening. Recently the pain included the lateral plantar surface as well. She is limping from the pain and wearing an 8-year-old custom orthotics she has not worn in years. Recently, she stated that she got out of bed and dorsiflexed her ankle and heard several loud “cracks” near the medial and lateral malleoli. When she looked down, she noticed that the chronic swelling in her ankle was gone. Patient presented with no lateral ankle swelling.
