71 yo man presents with history of headaches and neck pain
Linda Simon, DC
This patient was diagnosed with Headaches caused by chronic temporomandibular joint fibrositis with secondary effects to the cranium and cervical spine. This was determined by objective findings of limited opening, muscle contractures, audible pop, and lateral jaw shift. Also significant is the lateral occiput shift and the mastoid cranial faults. All of these concerns can develop with a TMJ dysfunction. There is also associated sprain strain of the upper cervical spine because the movement of the jaw affects the movement of the upper cervical spine and occiput.
