72 yo active female presents with pain and tingling at the dorsum of her right foot
Linda Simon, DC
The nerves associated with the lumbar plexus when compressed produce sensory symptoms at the gluteal region, upper back, inguinal area, medial thigh, medial knee and lateral and anterior thigh. There are no sensory symptoms related to the lumbar plexus below the knee or at the lateral knee.
Therefore, the nerve that is compressed must be associated with the sacral plexus.
Question: Which lower extremity nerves are associated with the sacroiliac, gluteal, quadratus lumborum and knee region that could possibly be entrapped and cause the sensory symptoms at the top of this patient’s foot?
