The femur showed a 10.5cm lucent lesion that extended from the lesser trochanter down the length of the femur shaft on the right.



The frog leg projection demonstrated a moth eaten appearance on the proximal aspect of the lesion. Endosteal scalloping created a thinning of the cortex seen greatest on the medial aspect. In light of this patients history, metastatic thyroid cancer was most troubling, especially since there were multiple foci. The patient was referred to an oncologist where a bone scan was ordered to see the extent of the metastatic disease.
