Assistive Technology: Supports for Aging Adults

• Appreciate how population aging affects the need for OT services, and how the application of various assistive technologies will increasingly become part of and aid in those services
• Understand and be able to apply to OT practice some conceptual models linking humans to their environmental contexts, when various technologies are added
• Understand and appreciate other ???elds’ conceptual models to improve one’s interprofessional competencies
• Become more fully aware of various low- and high-technology devices and technologies that can aid in the provision of OT services to the aged and disabled
• Understand that despite the push for the latest gadgets and gizmos, several low-tech devices continue to best serve older clients
