Gait Analysis
The bridge exercise has been a staple amongst conditions seeking to rehabilitate everything from lower back pain to gait abnormalities. Traditionally, this is predominantly a gluteus maximus exercise however we often find that it is dominated by the hamstrings. This presentation goes through the recent research surrounding this exercise as well as ways to optimize its efficacy and clinical utility.
Ever wonder if “flip flops” are bad for you? How about open back shoes? With the prevalence of sandal and open back footwear use, we thought it appropriate to talk about the biomechanics and potential pitfalls of this type of footwear. In this preservation we examine the biomechanics, pathomechanics literature and potential sequelae of sandals and open back shoes.

This class contains two video cases. One on Meralgia Paresthetica involves a chiropractic student who is examined and diagnosed during the class video. There is also another published case (by the author Dr. Ferezy) with is reviewed along with a clinical discussion. The other video case involves an elderly Navy veteran with a long history of unusual headaches and also suffered a stroke, and was diagnosed as suffering from Cluster Headache Syndrome. The cases are enhanced by a clinical discussion of the disorder.
Case 136 involves Deb, a young woman who had an accidental cutting of her 11th cranial nerve after having surgical removal of an enlarged lymph node for biopsy. Two other cases of cranial nerve 11 damage are also viewed. Case 140 involves a woman who was employed by a chiropractor and alleged that he caused a stroke following a cervical adjustment. The legal documents are reviewed and signs and symptoms of arterial dissection are reviewed. A clinical discussion follows both cases.
This session consists of two cases. The first is a young woman with compression of the cervical spinal cord myelopathy. The second case is of a work comp injury in a 50 year old male that was mis-diagnosed by his “company doctor” and correctly diagnosed as an L4 radiculopathy by Dr. Ferezy.
