The piriformis, gluteus medius, gluteus maximus, tensor fascia lata and quadratus femoris were all evaluated for spasms, trigger points and possible nerve compression. The gluteus medius and piriformis attachments to the greater trochanter were very painful to palpation and reproduced the pain pattern radiation below into her thigh and foot. It was determined that inflammation and spasm in this region compressed the sciatic nerve causing the pain radiation pattern into her right thigh, leg and top of foot.
