Case Presentation: Page 2 of 6

This patient’s lumbar spine was examined for indications of nerve root involvement of the L4 nerve root.  She was also evaluated for sprains of the lumbar spine, lumbosacral spine, sacroiliac joints, left femur head and left knee. The right sacroiliac joint was determined to be fixated as well as the left femur.

Regarding this patient’s left knee, palpation was performed at the anterior, posterior, medial and lateral regions of the knee. There was pain elicited at the anterior and lateral soft tissue structures.

Question: What functional testing would you perform for this patient’s knee to rule out tibiofemoral and patellofemoral joint dysfunction?
