The sartorius is the muscle responsible for the “figure 4” position and the ability to bring the thigh into Flexion, ABduction, External Rotation and Extension; aka FABERE or the “figure 4” position. It is also known that the sartorius is related to the IT band and when the IT band is contracted it can pull the pelvis anteriorly causing the sartorius, which is attached to the ASIS, to be contracted and shortened receiving more stress than normal.

 

Question: Based on this patient’s clinical history, what soft tissue structures would you treat?
