HIPAA Law Change: Did you make the deadline or are you at risk?

We are thrilled to announce the availability of a new a timely course titled:  Government HIPAA and Cybersecurity Compliance 209 : HIPAA law change: Did you make the deadline or are you at risk?

This training provides chiropractic practice owners, office managers, and compliance leaders with clear, practical guidance on the mandatory 2026 HIPAA Notice of Privacy Practices (NPP) update and what must be implemented by the February 16, 2026 compliance deadline. Participants will learn why the NPP remains a critical document during audits and investigations, what federal changes still apply after the 2025 court decision vacating portions of the 2024 HIPAA reproductive health rule, and why Substance Use Disorder (SUD) confidentiality protections under 42 C.F.R. Part 2 remain fully enforceable. The session explains how SUD-protected information can still enter a chiropractic practice through patient disclosures, medication histories, or outside medical records, and what steps are required when those records are received or disclosed. Attendees will be guided through the specific compliance actions required for 2026, including updating the Notice of Privacy Practices, understanding when a Part 2–compliant SUD authorization may be required, training staff to recognize and escalate requests involving protected SUD information, and aligning privacy notices with actual security and workflow practices. The training also reinforces current HIPAA security expectations—such as multi-factor authentication, encryption, risk analysis, and audit controls—and concludes with practical implementation steps that help chiropractic practices update documentation, train staff, redistribute the revised NPP, and maintain defensible compliance moving forward
